One comment reminded me of how lucky I am
To live in the greatest of countries; the U.S.A!

I couldn't resist the impulse. You, saying the same in just 18 words. The book I have read this winter.
This review is from: Big Trouble: A Murder in a Small Western Town Sets Off a Struggle for the Soul of America (Paperback). Left on Amazon.
It is a 350,000 words book. It is not your usual real life crime story. It so much more than that. It is the story of North America and the way it has been built. It took me six weeks to get through this master piece and I enjoyed every minutes of the experience. It made me wondering of all that could have gone wrong and somehow, we in America (I am a Canadian) did it right. In 1900, everything was on the table. How have we survived the peril of totalitarist socialism and the abuses of pure laissez faire capitalism is a story you might find some answer to by reading BIG TROUBLE by J.A. Lukas. It suffice to look at the Europeans at the time and the way they have settle their ideological differences. One thing is sure. To be born an European in 1890 was a curse. Thank's to this author's marvelous narrative for reminding us of how good our fathers have been to make America the best place to live on this earth.
Sounds good, Jean, except I have trouble reading longer pieces because of my eyesight. Thank you for suggesting it though; 350,000 words? Man!
Leaves me wondering just what that comment was.
Oh, it was someone who aspires to come here from India, and his comments about how great America is, that reminded me, "Hey, with all our problems, the U.S. is still a pretty damn good place to live!"
I agree, Mike. Even with all the problems in our country, we are still lucky to have been born in the USA. Many people risk their lives just trying to get into the US, so we shouldn't take our country for granted.
I was reminded when talking to someone from another country; how most of people from other country's view us, thanks!
