Haunted Bits and Pieces

Out of the past; screaming so loud and cutting so deep

Comes jagged bits of memory that robs me of sleep

Remembrances sealed behind a wall of shame;

Memories of the blackest sort; of guilt and of blame

Voices of a pain, so long locked away;

When my actions seem hard to believe, where bitter memories stay

Voices of betrayal that I’ve visited upon others

A pain and shame so heavy, it suffocates and smothers,

Drowning with no sign of water, anywhere around

An elevator of memories that drags me down and down
