Placard’s Latest Novel Idea
By Mike Stevens
“The ground was rushing up towards stunt pilot Tally Cleaver’s sunburst orange-painted stunt plane at an alarming rate! Tally was just starting to grow concerned. Thank goodness he had the parachute laying beside him in a backpack. The wind was whipping. He knew he should of been wearing it, but it just got in the way, so he kept it within easy reach, on the copilot’s chair, which obviously was empty, as he was alone. All he’d have to do is slip it on, and bail out. He groped for one the safety straps. There, he had it. He pulled on the strap, but the backpack hardly moved. He gave it a mighty pull, and the parachute deployed, catching the wind, and pulling the backpack up and away into the air. He watched it disappear into the clear blue sky above him; great! He watched the ground rushing up to meet him, and realized there was nothing he could do about it!”
So went the latest page-turning novel from the mind of Charles Placard; another best-seller. He wondered how he did it?
