What Time is It?

Some time after I fall asleep, I wake with a start

Not sure where I am; a sense of dread in my heart

Where am I?  How did I get here?  What time is it?

I try in vain to clear my groggy head, just a bit

Thoughts make no sense; I’m out on a limb, and about to fall

My mind doesn’t work; confusion rules all

As I try to make some kind of sense

of the world around me, what is meant

by the strange vision I’m beholding, it’s just not fair!

people ask me questions who aren’t really there

I’d swear later that their voices were real,

as well as the emotions and pain that I feel

Such a strange time when I first come awake

I’m in a netherworld, where the real is now fake!
