Ho-hum; another shitty day up here on the shelf on aisle 3 of the Smiling Toy Shop, thought Jasper the teddy bear.  That may be fine and dandy for all the stuffing-filled unfeeling bastard-bears around him, but he could most defiantly feel; well, he and the bastard-bear sitting next to him, Denbo; and what he was feeling was rage.  Rage at being picked up and fondled like a cheerleader at the high school dance by sawed-off little morons, who screamed and ran around, in between using your legs like a wishbone.  As he was thinking this, here came another juvenile snot-nosed patheti-kid; who gave a squeal, and headed right for Jasper and Denbo’s shelf.  He couldn’t quite reach them, so he scooted a small ladder into place and turned to take off his jacket.  Jasper and Denbo hated each other, but this was an emergency.  They exchanged looks, and each stepped forward and grabbed the top rung of the ladder and heaved.  It wobbled and then crashed to the floor, making a huge clatter.  The kid who’d set it up was startled and looked around.  As he was looking wildly around for the cause, Mr. Vesta came flying down the aisle,

“Are you alright?  What happened?”

“Yeah, I’m fine.  I was going to climb up and grab one of those teddy bears, but for some reason, the ladder just fell over.”

“Well, son, those ladders are for store employees only.  You shouldn’t have tried to move the ladder by yourself.  Those ladders are made of metal and are ungainly to move.”

“Well, I had it set up so it shouldn’t have fallen; I honestly don’t see how it could have.”  Jasper and Denbo exchanged knowing looks.

“Well, it was probably just to heavy for you,” replied Mr. Vesta.

“It wasn’t too heavy for me.”

Jasper and Denbo watched as Mr. Vesta tried to keep his temper in check.  “Well son, it may not have been too heavy for you, but it didn’t fall for no reason.”

It was at that very moment that the kid’s father came around the corner.  “There you are, Larry, I found a parking spot for the car, finally; is there a problem here?” he asked.

Mr. Vesta answered, “Oh, not really; Your boy tried to set up this ladder by himself, and it was too heavy, and fell.”

“I’m telling you, there’s no way it should have fallen!” Little Larry interrupted.

Vesta had had enough; he’d been having the day from Hell so far, “Look, you may have believed you could handle it, but the fact is you couldn’t, and now look!”

Larry’s father chimed in with, “Are you calling my boy a liar?”

Mr. Vesta blew a gasket, “Not only am I calling your moron kid a liar, but he’s a weak-ass liar!”

Larry’s father roared in rage and charged Vesta, head butting him in the chest.  They both flew off their feet and crashed into the box containing rubber balls; a few of which bounced away down the aisle.  Jasper and Denbo watched the two brawling below them with glee.

After watching the two men struggle on the ground, and many  muttered curses between the two, the police finally came and separated the battling men.  Mr Vesta, upon feeling himself forcibly pulled away from Larry’s father, screamed, “Let me go; I’m not through ripping the smirk of this bastard’s face!” he struggled to break free; only to lose control of his limbs after one of the cops tasered him.  He wildly jerked around and finally slumped to the ground.  Larry’s dad, having seen Mr. Vesta’s electric dance, decided to not give the police any trouble.

Another employee was called in to take over for Mr. Vesta, and the both he and Larry’s dad were hauled away in handcuffs.  Jasper and Denbo exchanged grins; they were, for once, in total agreement about something; they had both enjoyed the hell out of this!

The End
