Rain trickling down the window pane.
A gloomy day for a shattered heart.
Broken phrases have been spoken.
Pointless tears falling.
Fingers slip away.
As we hold our heads low,
Skipping the sad good-byes.

I gave up everything for a blissful lullaby.
I should have known fairy tales don't come true.
I took a risk, a chance in trusting myself.

Never again will I trust my heart.
Never again will I believe in broken promises.
Never again will I be just a convenient lover.

Because I'm the one who likes the sound of the waves crashing.
I'm the one who loves to watch sunsets at dawn.
I'm the one who wants the picketed white fence.
And because I'm the one who is calmed by the twinkle of city lights.

I'm not ready to say good-bye yet.
It has been nice getting to know myself.

This dull room is swallowing me up.
The silence is filled with thoughts unspoken.
I have to keep busy in fear I may break.
In fear I will go back to the life of nonexistence.
The emptiness is filling my veins.
My body trembles from the pain.
Cool it down with a beverage and a luckless romance.

Never again will I fall for devious expressions.
Never again will I allow myself to be hurt.
Never again will I settle for less than I'm worth.

Because I'm the one who likes the smell of a ripe peach.
I'm the one who dreams about making love on the beach.
I'm the one who believes in childish sayings.
And because I'm the one who likes to watch puppies playing.

I'm not ready to let go.
It's been nice getting to know myself.
