Kizuna Manami, a skilled but solitary junior of the Alacrity Academy, is a young woman with strange, full body markings. At present, she is unaware that she is in fact the sole survivor of a powerful but annihilated clan. When she is fully awoken to her unworldly strength, she is ushered into an adult world not even the wisdom of those surrounding her could prepare her for.

The Thiaga'lai were a very famed clan, known for their impressive arts in mastering the element water, their benevolence to other villages but also for their destructive wrath against those who took advantage of it, though that rarely happened.
Their strengths weren't only their devotion to these arts but also lied in revering water spirits, who lent their powers to specific individuals. They were born with symbolic marks running through their entire bodies, also symbolizing a network of energy and, if glowing simultaneously, gave the host the ability to to tap into the power of these spirits, and sometimes even summon them.
Until one day where the clan, and the entire village they resided in, were caught by surprise by a large band of mercenaries, hired by a union of city leaders who considered them a threat and ordered them annihilated in secret.
None were kept alive from the surprise attack, the city was left in ruins.

One woman managed to escape but was gravely injured in the process. Before her death however, she gave birth to a daughter.
