Rhyming riddle project in 5th grade. And, I had to add something to motivate myself to add more. ...

Like a warrior alone

Do I stand in the field

My armor is frail

My sword as my shield

I'm often cut in love

Later torn in sadness

A beauty shrouded

By convolutedness

Some times I mark a page

In an eventful life

Or kept memorandum

of some loss or strife

What am I?
