I see ripples floating on the pond

Tiny perfect circles of lifelessness

I wonder if I could be so peaceful?

As the advancing tranquil disturbances

I hear birds calling testimony

Through the boughs of trees so high

Could I ever sound so beautiful?

As the magnificent rantings

I taste summer pollen in the air

Shaken into a comatose journey

Could I ever taste so sweet?

As the flawless abominations

I smell fresh-rain ferns

Watered into a faultless death

Could I ever smell as good?

As these pleasant condemned

I feel pointed spheres of smooth

Pebbles settled silent under my hands

Could I ever feel as unflawed?

As this dreamlike pain
