The Elf Princess
(Including a forward by the author called Her Fifth Period Friends)
This novel is dedicated to all of my lunch time friends, even the ones that are not in this story (some of you didn't participate in our computer lab conversation). I will always remember our weird conversations.
Her Fifth Period Friends
(the forward to The Elf Princess)
This book is written for teenagers and fantasy lovers, even though the title sounds a bit childish. Well I must say, you are an extraordinary person. Very few people ever read these forwards. You are a pretty cool kid…or an adult… or maybe even a preteen. Well good for you for reading this. It explains a lot of the story. You may be wondering what an elf princess has to do with an everyday fifth period English class. Well I will just have to tell you why then won't I?
It all started at lunch. My friends and I were talking when suddenly one of my friends said I looked like an elf. Giladrina (pronounced GIL-A-DREE-NAH) is the elf princess. The one who called my an elf was named Paul. He doesn't have a last name. Paul is the giant in this story, Gliffenex. Then, I started making up a story about an elfish land that Giladrina would live in, and her horse.
A few days later, our fifth period class was in the computer lab. There, we made up characters for a few other people in our class. My friend Kimmy is a person that always smiles, generally a kind, caring, lovable person also known as the fairy, Glimmacia. And in my elfish world, every fairy has a pixie. Her pixie is Laracia, who is really Kristie. Then I brought my friends Teddy and Genesis into the story. We decided that Teddy would be a witch. Her name in this story is Siniora, which is pronounced like the Spanish word senora except it has an "e" sound before the "o." She liked a guy, whose name I will not say. But he is the warlock, Simon with the "o" sounding like the letter "o".
Genesis we called a hobbit, like those in the book series The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. I originally had plans to make her a dwarf… but she was offended by that. Which I think is strange, because dwarfs are very honorable creatures in my story, and hobbits are less admirable. Her hobbit name is simple to say, because she is a hobbit and hobbits have simple names. If she were a dwarf, she'd have a cooler, complex name. Her hobbit name is Lucia. Then I realized that if I included a hobbit, I would be copying Tolkien, so I made her a dwarf. Her new name is Luciandia, which is far cooler than Lucia in my eyes. There will be other characters in this story that will have origins and I will give you the background on the character. I might also include characters that have no origins.
Well anyway, I shall now get back to the story now that you have a bit of background knowledge of the book. Paul wrote a very weird and sort of offending story using some of the people we named, the guy I liked, and me. So this is my comeback.
Chapter 1: The Council of Magic
If you didn't read the forward, then you might as well not read this until you do read the forward, so go back and read it. It's not that long.
Night fell upon the magical land of Indora, a land upon Earth where only magic creatures have the power to see it. It lies west of Chile and south of the Arctic. The Council of Magic met in the city of Larathnox. There was a creature of every kind, one representative from each race. The Council of Magic consisted of an elf, human, giant, dwarf, witch, wizard, warlock, fairy, and a pixie.
Each creature had brought unique power of some sort to the Council, except for the human who just got brains and sometimes strength. Giants, who, of course, are the tallest type of creature, have a power that allows crops to crow unusually large. The giant that represented this meeting was King Gliffenex. He was the tallest and most powerful of his kind known so far. Dwarfs, who are the opposite of giants, have a unique ability. They have a power that helps them mine and create extraordinary jewelry and armor. The dwarf that was at the Council was Luciandia. She was the wisest and strongest dwarf known so far.
Luciandia dwelled in a large city underground, and she was the queen of it. Luciandia was the first female dwarf ruler, and perhaps the best.
Witches, wizards, and warlocks are magical creatures that can use magic to accomplish their needs. There is a great difference between witches, wizards, and their cousins, the warlocks. Witches and wizards need wands, and use their power for good. Warlocks, on the other hand, use their power for evil. They can also generate magic through their hands. Not needing wands makes warlocks more powerful than witches and wizards, because most witches and wizards lose their wands very often and cannot use magic without wands. Siniora was a witch, Simon was a warlock, and Sinnexio was a wizard. Siniora, Simon, and Sinnexio were leaders of their kind, but absolutely not kings or queens, because there would be a huge war over who the royal people of these three races would be and their kind would likely cease to live. They were like the alpha dog in a pack of wolves. The three were the most powerful and wisest of their kind, and also were mortal enemies, possibly secretly liking each other underneath the hatred and lies. The opposite of witches, wizards, and warlocks, are fairies. Fairies are kind and caring. They always have a smile on their face. Glimmacia was the fairy that attended this meeting. Her pixie's name was Laracia. When the two were put together, they could defeat almost any enemy. The last two creatures that attended this meeting were a human and an elf. The elf's name was Ellemiana, or queen of the elves. The human had no magical power. He was a messenger for Ellemiana, named Charlie. No one knows how he found Indora, but he was a very fast messenger, and was Ellemiana's most loyal servant. Maybe he does have a power…
Ellemiana was the head of the council. She lived on an island in the territory of Indora. It was the elfish land of Elleminian, which means land of the elves. Elves had the power to control nature. They had a love for the arts; singing, dancing, writing, and sketching. They could make a flower grow with the snap of a finger. Elves had an undying beauty. They also had a very long life span. Elleminian had a spell about it that gave all elves eternal youth. It was their payment for being kind to nature.
Not only could elves control nature, but some of them were born with magic in their veins. Ellemiana was an elfish sorceress, who could heal wounds, peek into the past or future, and read minds.
"The Queen looks worried," warned Laracia to Glimmacia.
"It is because the time of Gil-" her reply was cut off by the Ellemiana's voice.
"Let the meeting come to order," Ellemiana spoke. "Thirteen years ago, our Council met and we spoke of my daughter."
"Oh yes, G-"
"Do not speak her name!" Ellemiana interrupted Gliffenex. "Her name is being tracked by Silioa. He seeks her. Somehow, he has learned of the prophecy. She is coming to Elleminian at this moment."
"But how does Gil-" Sinnexio stopped in the middle of the name. "How does your daughter know how to find Elleminian?"
"Elfish blood runs through her veins. I summoned her and she ran away. She is sailing to nowhere but her path will bring her here."
Chapter 2: Sailing to Nowhere
"Sailing in the ocean blue, my ship sails on forever. I don't know where Fate will lead me, where I'm going I may know never. We go through the sea alone and free, wondering where it will take me. We wait to see the land of my dreams, the land that is calling me through the seas," A beautiful voice sang, "Where I am going I my never know, in my ship sailing to and fro. My ship and I seek the land of my dreams, the land that is calling me through the seas." The voice suddenly faded, coming from a young woman.
Ginny lay down in the stiff bed that was inside her undersized cabin. She was closed her dark blue eyes that told a story, the painful story of her past. Her head fell upon her curly blonde hair. She was exhausted from the hard labor she had done all day, navigating her ship. She slept dreamlessly for an hour, but as the oblivion of sleep passed, she heard voices in her thoughts. The voices were bold and noble, strong and unwavering. They were telling her to leave, come to the sea, and sail on. Then an evil figure popped out. Ginny awoke, scared.
She was an orphan girl, in her early teens. She hated life in America. She was called Ginny at the orphanage, but she felt as though that was not the name that her true parents had given her. She never found out why her parents left her, but they left her with lots of money, money that was hers to keep and somehow she felt that nobody could ever take it. Lately, Ginny had been having strange dreams about a land of wilderness and freedom. In her last dream, she dreamt of a fair maiden, who told her to leave, buy a ship with her money, and a crew to go with her and one friend, who she could trust. She followed the person's directions and told the crew to sail southwest. She always liked the land of the south. With her she took her friend Rain, and they sailed every night. They sailed without knowing where they were going.
Chapter 3: Hin Hin, Lennia, and Cinaria
The magical land of Indora was a complex area. It was the size of a continent surrounded by 20 different islands. One of these islands was the island of Elleminian land of the elves and was the largest of them all. It was covered by dense forests, lakes, and huge mountains. Most elves never ventured into the caves under the mountains, most of them stayed above ground. Elves are claustrophobic.
The second biggest island was the Island of the Fairies, and the next biggest was the Land of the Giants, following that was the dark, cave-covered Island of the Witches, Wizards, and Warlocks, covered by huge towers where the magic folk did their work. I'm going to take you to the Island of Fairies, also known as Guenabia, where unicorns and talking flowers live. Talking flowers real name are the Ciobia. They are very cool creatures. Don't make fun of them. They are easily offended, and trust me, you don't want to do that.
The fairy, Glimmacia, and her pixie Laracia raced through the island of Guenabia, set off to look for the friends, Hin Hin, a Ciobia, Lennia, a unicorn, and Cinaria, a fairy.
It was easy to find Cinaria and Lennia. Cinaria could be found easily because she was the only fairy without a pixie. Lennia was not difficult to seek because the race of unicorns was dying, and there were approximately one hundred left. Hin Hin was a different story. There were so many Ciobias that existed. The only way you could find her was to look through every pack of Ciobias there were, until you found a unique green and purple flower, shaped like a star.
