P.O.W.

As another cause,
inks the history books,
and leads to conflict,
the armies clash,
on a cold winters night,
the fighting wages,
for ten hours straight,
in clouds of fire and smoke,
a platoon is outflanked,
surrounded at noon,
the captured languish,
caged in cold steel,
and unmarbled stone,
standing naked and alone,
their freedom deboned.

A mother cries,
for their sons and daughters,
while the captives suffer,
and the patriotic commiserate,
the tortured soldiers,
who relentlessly endure pain,
and survive extreme torture,
as the others perish,
at the hands of imperialists,
hell bent on deception,
as warring propaganda wages,
in a thunderous wide rain,
the survivors forever stained,
with the title of P.O.W,
at the end of their name.
