A kiss flees quickly from memory
and is gone without a trace.
Yet the sting of desire burns so deep
and encircles the heart like lace.

A caress leaves trails of fire on the skin
and makes the heart to beat.
Yet the sorrow of a broken heart
feels the pain of love's defeat.
