\"frosted\"
Christmas time here in the mall
people shopping, music playing
I am here as well, stealing
not for pleasure but to survive.

No happy memories to recall
just the street, just the cold.
Walking nonchalantly away
pockets stuffed with treasure.

No one seems to notice me
all too busy, all too absorbed.
I see the entrance up ahead
freedom beckons, almost there.

I walk around the giant tree
then shouting, a rush of feet.
My face hits the frosted glass
hands flying to ease the pain.

Rent a cop has found me out
screaming thief, pushing hard.
I know what happens next
off to juvenile hall I will go.

There is no question, no doubt
so very stupid, so very unplanned
now I’m just another number
faceless, nameless criminal.
