The line down Heartache Avenue is thick and long
seems they’re all searching for where they belong.
Looking for the one thing that they had before
seems they have a lot but they always want more.
Had your hand in the cookie jar and she caught you.
She screams those words and now you’re through.
Gonna find yourself someone a little hard core.
Your heart says that’s not what you’re looking for.
Chorus
So you take a drive down Heartache Avenue
Looking for something exciting and new
Rose colored glasses turned a dark shade of blue
but you follow that line where it leads you.
You drive down the road of angry voices.
Down that byway of badly made choices.
Those bright lights make your head reel
but believe me friend your heart won’t heal.
Chorus
Cause Heartache Avenue has no grace.
It’ll eat you alive and not leave a trace.
I say Heartache Avenue is no place to be
and it sure as hell won’t set you free.
