My rear view mirror reflects the lights of the city.
I leave tonight filled with that pain and self pity
but not ten miles down that cold highway
I am missing you and my city by the bay.

When the lights are gone, darkness remains
and the foghorn sounds those lonely refrains
then I’ll think of a love we once shared
I’ll reminisce about the one who cared.

City lights shining in those youthful eyes
dreaming of a life beyond fog filled skies.
Just a wish, a hope I never could forget.
City lights go out and hide that regret.

Remembering the heartache, recalling the pain
wanting, but not wanting to feel it again.
Driving this highway thinking of you
wondering if you’re missing me, too.

My eyes reflect the secrets two hearts knew.
We weren’t brave, couldn’t see it through.
It was just easier for me to finally run away.
How I’m missing you and the lights on the bay.

Original Lyrics as done by Journey

When the lights go down in the city,
and the sun shines on the bay,
do i want to be there,
in my city,
ohoh ohohoh ohoh

So you said your lonely
well my friend i'm lonely too
i want to get back, to my city
by the rain, ohoh ohohoh ohoh

its sad ohh,
theres been morings
out of the world without you,
without your charm
ohohoh nah nah nah ohoh

when the lights go down in the city
and the sun shines on the bay
do i want to be there, in my city oh oh
ohoh ohohoh ohoh

when the lights go down in the city
and the sun shines on the bay
do i want to be there
in my city,
ohoh ohohohoh ohoh
mmmmhmhm ohoh ohohoh ohoh
