A father's role is just as important as a mother's. Fathers bring a totally different approach to raising children. At times their aspect on life is opposite of the mother's. Father's always come up with new ways of playing with their babies. Their play is more varied and unpredictable. Father's are also more physical in their play, like rough-housing and tossing their babies in the air. A mother may sometimes feel nervous when she sees her husband playing with the baby in a way she fears might hurt the child. I feel with the father-baby relationship being intense and active the father's behavior has a special impact in that child's life. What is important for parents to remember is that each parent has something special to offer their baby, which they can share with each other. Just as fathers can learn about cargiving from mothers, mothers can learn from fathers as well.
