Life is a great disappointment,

I knew it from the start.

But I was assured God loves me, and keeps me precious in his heart.

So I grew toward living a life

I did not understand.

The life my parents wished for me, one like theirs, which they couldn’t stand.

I found love, marriage, children,

A house that made me proud,

And I shouted

‘I made it”, right out loud.

It was all perfect right down to the pet.

It was a joy to whore myself hourly, paying the debt.

When things got tough, I remember Bill Bailey

Gave a big grin facing his strife, and it all turned to a Wonder Life.

But all this contentment that came between teen and old fart, hardly lasted only a moment.

And  I took  off the veil.

Old Billy’s life actually sucked.

As for me, looking back I really feel fucked.

I don’t believe it has to be this way. But we are easily led a stray,

By all our friends and family that were just raised that way.

I think we’d find life is beautiful and joyous, and realize we’ve been given a lot.

Rather than put all we have in heaven’s lot

Let’s consider what we’re given and not worry about what’s in God’s heart.
