Summary

I had a hard time the day my wife left me. This poem was the result. It's not very long, but I feel the same pain each time I read it.

Dreams and nightmares over with the hopes of future gone,

Strange and eerie silence at the breaking of the dawn.

Holding on so tightly to the lies I did not see,

The truth now laid before me of a dream that could not be.

Past is left behind me as I step into the light,

Future feels so open at the ending of the night.

And yet the darkness lingers with a loneliness so strong,

My heart and soul lay broken at the breaking of the dawn.

Don't know what path to follow down this crossroads in my life,

I thought I would crawl up and die the day I lost my wife
