Love is just a four-letter word
Often spoken but never heard
I love the way she moves
Quietly my mind's eye
Sees her.
My heart stutters, my tongue does not
As I speak, a whisper of her scent
And my mind says
"I love the way she smells, the way she moves"
But a four-letter word means nothing
When it cannot be heard
Silken, her skin, brown her color
She moves a breeze upon the ocean
Black, beautiful hair weaves a melody
Cascading around her shoulders
Framing her face
"I love her smile, her hair, her face"
But the mind of the lover is mute
The loved deaf to those four letters
She smiles at me
I defy angels grasping the moon
To hang it upon her neck
As the only thing as beautiful as she
An orchestra unravels a haunting
Sad tome to my foolish mind
The smile I love, was never mine
Her bronze skin, iridescent in the sun
Could never hold the word
Four little letters
For I spoke,
Isolated in a chamber of my mind
Moonlight and tears my only consolation
For only my heart to hear
I have always loved you
It is my heart that has just found you
But...
Love is just a four-letter word
Often spoken but never heard
