As light leaves the sky,
The shadows grow longer,
Darkness creeps softly,
Gradually growing stronger.

He is in a good mood,
And reaches out his hand,
He lifts my tear-stained face,
And helps me to stand.

He smiles a lovely smile,
And laughs a little, too,
He clears my muddled mind,
And helps me to stay true.

He lifts my face to the sky,
His hand rough and cold,
He laughs a priceless laugh,
A gem that could never be sold.

The colours in the sky,
Comfort me in some way,
But they are fading,
With the light of day.

Darkness announces then,
That our meeting must end,
He leaves me now,
Alone with the memory of a friend.
