My old English teacher left for the Seychelles and this poem created itself, as I feel he haunts his old classroom.

His writing

marks the board.

Why has no

one erased it?

His books lie

haphazardly

on the shelf

above the

cupboard.

Why did he

leave words

behind?

The air

reeks

of stale

lessons.

His voice

echoes

the replacement

teacher.

He haunts the room

where my imagination

is released.
