There's been a lot of turbulence in my life the past several months, age old conventions of mine being tossed into the trash bin. I've hopefully emerged stronger from it, but I'm afraid this will be my last poem on booksie (I'm planning to transition to Figment.com but I'm not even sure if I'll do that)I now regret gutting my portfolio...

I read sweet agony xo's bio(like really read it, not just skimming as I did before)and reread several of her honest, well written poems. In doing so, I pulled my head out of the clouds and realized that here was someone I wanted to cheer up before leaving. This poem is for her and it is not very good, but I hope everyone gets something out of it.

Life feels just like torture
With sadness all around
It is such a painful scorcher
No happiness can be found.
Those I've loved don't need me
And that I must deplore
Staring beyond this endless sea
I feel like such a bore.
Writing to escape reality
Working just as planned
But I am made aware of my frailty
That my island is turning bland.
I build a bridge to happiness
Across that endless sea
I wonder what sort of kindliness
Is there awaiting me.
