i wrote this for my youngest daughter, who lives in Alaska with her husband and is expecting her first child.
there's a couple of lines in this that i got from the song, "i'm already there" by the group "lonestar". i miss my little girl and with her husband deployed to iraq, i worry, she's up there alone.

So far away from me now

Just yesterday clinging to my hand

Begging for hugs and bedtime stories

Making silly faces and smiles so big

Now all grown up and married

Having a baby of your own

Love spanning infinite distance

Me living vicariously through you

Sharing you through time and space

You still say Mommy I miss you

I tell you that now and forever

I'm the whisper in the wind

Your husband deployed to Iraq

You alone without us to comfort you

Little girl all grown up

Reinforcing the foundation of her own family

You tell me Mommy I get so lonely sometimes

I will always be there, inside of you

I'm your imaginary friend

I'll be there to the end

You tell me Mommy what will I do without you?

You always have me baby

I'm always walking by your side

Don't cry just take a look around

I'm the shadow on the ground

Courtesy of Lonestar- Already there - I'm the whisper in the wind

Your imaginary friend

I'll be there to the end

The shadow on the ground
