I'm the Last Person You'll ever See

As the poison works its way through your bloodstream
I stand by waiting, listening to your scream
As the bullet enters your body hitting some vital spot
I was standing in the shadows watching as you got shot
As they twist the knife deeper into your heart
I clap my hands with glee, my party's about to start
As the clot rushes to your brain
I smile, glorifying in your pain
As your heart spasms and squeezes tight
I revel in this wondrous sight
As your organs shut down one by one
I sit patiently waiting to have some fun
This is my job, what I have been assigned to do
I don't have to cajole, beg or woo
All I have to do is stand by and wait
For the natural process or for some fool to take the bait
I'm called many things, Grim Reaper, Death or Father Time
Some very unkind, I don't know why, I just claim all that's mine

very good poem
Fri, December 8th, 2006 4:37amYou had my heart pounding. Talk about mystery in poetry. This poem my be short but it certainly begins powerfully. I actually thought-or should I actually say-what I thought upon the first 12 lines.
I won`t do that since it dosen`t matter. However, you clear up all "tags" from my mind very quickly in the last few lines by your superb personification.
