Masks and whisks make me forget
But the fire’s on my plate.
All the fears come flooding back
I need to get home
To make me better again.
I found god, he’s hidden in the suitcase
But I still can’t tell angels from smoke.
Every due is due right now,
The pain is that I can’t catch them
To be done by ten.
So I sit here crying,
It’s plain: I’ve given up trying.
I’ve given up on “no”
But I still can’t let go.
The clouds and wind
And hope and sin
Are standing at my door
Laughing at my dreams
Knowing where to lean.
