In the third chapter of Frankenstein, it says, “As he went on I felt as if my soul were grappling with a palpable enemy; one by one the various keys were touched which formed the mechanism of my being: chord after chord was sounded, and soon my mind was filled with one thought, one conception, one purpose. So much has been done; more, far more, will I achieve: treading in the steps already, I will pioneer a new way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation.”  When I read this particular part in the third chapter I kept thinking of it the whole way through. The wording of it was ominous, intriguing me as the reader to keep reading. I love the way the author described some of the wording relating some of it to instruments. As it says in the beginning “various keys were touched which formed the mechanism of my being”. If you know music, it takes the right notes and keys to create the most perfect melody. In this moment he was experiencing that all the ideas and thoughts in his mind were making that perfect melody in his head, just like all the pieces of the puzzle coming together.  It also goes on saying “chord after chord was sounded, and soon my mind was filled with one thought, one conception, and one purpose”. When all the pieces matched up, he knew what he wanted, he knew the purpose of why he wanted to do what he was going to do, and his concept was brilliant. Victor listened to Professor Wildman’s lecture, and that’s when he realized that was his passion, to be in the sciences. About time there was someone for Victor to follow in their footsteps. It wasn’t long before he stopped walking in Wildman’s footsteps to finally start walking in his own. The last part says “I will pioneer a new way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation” shows a tremendous amount of passion. You can tell that he was eager to get started. He wanted to start a new journey on his own which hopefully led him onto paths that he could possibly explore. Creation was the key element and the key word to this whole story. He created something that not even a genius can do more the less his Professor who inspired him to be in the sciences. Nothing stopped Victor after that lecture. It seemed as if he spent day in and day out studying without ever taking a break. Again the word “creation” seemed to be always in his mind. Continuing what he did best, he dropped everything and became his own mad professor, pursuing to create what we like to call the monster of Frankenstein.
