it may have sounded heartless

but he liked his women slim
"its fifty pounds or marriage off "
the statement made by him

she went upon a diet
quite assured she'd lose the weight
before the twelfth of august
which would be their wedding date

at first the weight went quickly
then she hit a long plateau
when came the tenth of august
she had fifteen pounds to go

she knew she'd never make it
and more time she could not beg
she found herself a hacksaw
and she took off her right leg
