moonlight becomes you

i turned the lights off at the wall

but all did not grow dim

the moon called from the window

shining bright from rim to rim

although the night was chilly

i escaped from where i roomed

with notebook and a pen in hand

to where the brilliance loomed

the sphere, above, my paper

frosted beams, my bleeding ink

and i was just the vessel

left without a mind to think

a sad visage peered back at me

its lines revealed the ache

of being torn away from home

with heart about to break

a barren waste of soil and stone

pitch blackness in its sky

as if it were a soul, unloved

just cast away to die

bombarded by projectiles

with no atmosphere to shield

a pockmarked angry satellite

that God had never healed

but yet, i felt its honor

and its duty to its tasks

a servant to its mother

who desires but never asks

the moon departed quickly

sinking down behind the trees

i found myself in darkness

but my spirit more at ease

Desilu

This is so different from most moon/June poems and presents new thoughts of that little sphere we seem so keen to land on.
Wonderful writing,as always.
I think Nellynel expressed it perfectly.

You draw the reader into the story so well with this poem phish... and it is so hopeful at the end - liked that. Odd for me, but I found myself empathising with the moon and not the narrator. Have a super week $
