i'm making a poem 'bout myself

a biblioholic, i am
in the nooks of my mind
it is books you will find
and a lot of their plots i have crammed

when young, twas just pictures in books
so thank goodness i wasn't born blind
i would pick up the threads
work it out in my head
till the trail of the tail was defined

and no teacher had taught me to read
i just figured it out by myself
quite the voracious kid
in my room, i'd be hid
and i'd roam through the tomes on my shelf

and adventures i'd have every day
all without even leaving my bed
and no matter how slick
any hollywood flick
would just pale to the tale in my head

and some may say, how can you breathe
with my nose in a book always placed
well, i'm sure to survive
for i lead other lives
in the glories of stories i've traced

that's the way i am planning to stay
a biblioholic and so
when i'm laid in the crypt
i'll need books for the trip
or i'll fight for my right not to go
