a person writes a note of love

and cooing softly as a dove
will pen the sweetest things that he can think

but when the one he's dreaming of
grows nightmare-like with push and shove
he wishes he used disappearing ink

he buys the girl a diamond ring
a house, a car and everything
and puts upon her back a fur of mink

disharmony may still yet sting
the tender tune he used to sing ?
he wishes he used disappearing ink

her plans for him have been designed
a marriage license on her mind
so she can go and lead him to the brink

the game is checked when he's resigned
the visionary left stone blind
he wishes he used disappearing ink
