sometimes you feel you're paralyzed

and lack the urge to move
you find yourself inside a rut
that used to be a groove
its easier to duck the blow
than take it on the chin
its easier to step outside
than probe yourself within
you have to take your blinders off
to see the northern lights
if you want to live in heaven
you must face your fear of heights

you've got to put your car in gear
to get it up the hill
you've got to rig the masts with sails
or wind will never fill
its easier to settle down
then get your dander up
its easier to simmer down
then finally just erupt
you have to break your old routines
and change the wrongs to rights
if you want to live in heaven
you must face your fear of heights

sometimes the clouds will blur the skies
and navigation's lost
sometimes you have to go for broke
and let the dice get tossed
its easier to fall asleep
than wake up to your fate
its easier to go around
than take the path that's straight
you have to find your guiding stars
and keep them in your sights
if you want to live in heaven
you must face your fear of heights
