i know you didn't want to

but you had to go away
and this child was kept in darkness
what i knew, no one would say

and i kept these tears inside me
and i didn't make make my peace
and not for two whole decades
would i finally find release

and it was a revelation
when i felt you in my mind
for i sensed your true emotions
and i knew that i'd been blind

heard the tearing of the fabric
as you left the world you knew
and you never chose the doorway
our creator pushed you through

and how it must have hurt you
as you read my angry mind
you must have pleaded with my conscience
that i'd not been left behind

and when i had my breakthrough
it was felt by you as well
and the golden rays of heaven
touched the bitter earth of hell

and i'll see you in my future
as for now, i know you're near
and you'll guide me through my troubles
and you'll calm me of my fears

for the love is everlasting
'tween a mother and a son
and there will be rejoicing
when my time on earth is done

though i'll never know the reason
God had taken you away
every day left in my lifetime
will be graced as Mother's Day
