the pinks and reds of rising sun

the violets, when it sets
the silver dollar of the moon
when seen in silhouette

the colors of the ocean
salty green and briny blue
are vivid panoramas
from God's crayons as he drew

the landscape of the desert
and the spines of mountains, seen
the tinctures of the rivers
as they tumble, serpentine

and all the breathing creatures
who upon this planet, crawl
are living works of color
from God's crayons as he scrawled

the flowers in the meadow
are a masterpiece of joy
and every color in the box
he seems to have employed

they're stolen from the rainbows
that in heaven, he has etched
and all behold the beauty
from God's crayons as he sketched

now there have been some artists
who aspire to do the trick
their techniques may be stunning
and their brushwork very slick

but no one tops the master
as a painter comprehends
you cannot match the magic
from God's crayons as he blends
