our lives are like an hourglass
or so we have been told
and stored within, our precious sand
but how much does it hold ?
.
when we are born, the glass is tipped
the sand starts running out
but how long till that final grain
goes slipping down the spout
.
some say that minute, life will cease
and you'll be truly dead
but let me tell you something
that might change your mind instead
.
the glass is sheer transparency
the sand within, opaque
so here's the observation
that i'd really like to make
.
you really can't see life at all
until your final day
when all the sand inside the glass
has simply dropped away
.
its then the picture's finally pure
in it's entirety
now, you may call me crazy
but it all seems clear to me
