i know i gave you lip

now i shall kiss it, make it better
for there was poison in that pen
while writing you that letter

a dose of love's the antidote
and i prescribe it often
a hardened heart grows calluses
a warm embrace will soften

i know i am intense at times
which quickly leads to shouting
but easier to reach the lip
that sticks out when you're pouting

yes, i can be a lunatic
all caught up in emotion
but when you smile down like the moon
it calms my raging ocean

you neutralize the lightning storm
whenever my mood bristles
and cools things down before the kettle
boiling in me whistles

you kiss my tears and stem the flow
before my face gets wetter
i know i gave you lip
now i shall kiss it, make it better
