i'm joyous in the sunshine

with the warmth upon my face
but when the moonlight hits me
it becomes a different place
.
the twilight leaves me anxious
like a train that's over due
my days are filled with colors
but my nights are black and blue
.
the days are so exciting
like a boisterous parade
the night is like a death march
that is sinister in shade
.
i find my mind divided
when the light divides in two
my days are filled with colors
but my nights are black and blue
.
the days are rich and sparkling
like the sunshine on the sand
but shadows stretch out toward me
and i'm taken to a land
.
where things are hiding in the dark
and hope to pull you through
my days are filled with colors
but my nights are black and blue
.
God paints the morning brightly
in a million different hues
the devil paints the evening
with the colors of a bruise
.
i ache to see the sunrise
and be washed by morning dew
my days are filled with colors
but my nights are black and blue
