there are repeating decimals

when calculating pi
and you could write these suckers
till a million pens ran dry

its a monument to horror
when you want to simplify
make a figure with a compass
and then gauge the space you spy

try and feed it to computers
you will blow them up sky high
there will never be perfection
doesn't matter how you try

you can never place your finger
you can never make it fly
you'd be better off with rhomboids
circles only make you cry

you try to pin them down
and its just "me oh me oh my"
its the worst of mathematics
its a number oh so shy

its a figure draped in shadow
its a culprit on the sly
its a vast approximation
an equation gravely wry

its a product that will cheat you
and will make you want to die
it will never be quite truthful
ever close but still a lie

and the paradox reciprocates
the lives of you and i
i know i'll never solve you
till someone can figure pi
