yes, "promise" has two syllables

just like two lips that kiss
and if one partner break the vow
then all that's left is "miss"
.
a misrepresentation
a miscue on one's part
a missive full of misery
a missile through the heart
.
i miss the love that we once had
the promises we made
the passion that once warmed us
is left shivering in shade
.
yes, trust is just one syllable
and harder to adjust
but if you wear it down a bit
the whole thing turns to "rust"
.
the gold will rust away to stone
and tears may rust one's face
and all this rust just turns to dust
and blows away in space
.
i miss the love that we once had
the trust we held so dear
who thought the sun that ruled our sky
would simply disappear
