telegraph hysteria

now, ponies aren't the mode
horses dashed but would not dot
remorse about the code
it doesn't ring romantically
for science seldom does
the mail that once went frantically
yearns for the day that was
hooves have been replaced by wires
the cowboy's cry ? a hum
telegraph hysteria
electric times have come
