the breath of God
which gave us life
will also suck away
the all consuming woe and strife
that gathers every day

we often think
it's most unfair
we'll not forever live
but each of us has just the share
that God decides to give

the breath of God
supplies the wind
that drives our billowed sails
He loves us although we have sinned
for mankind always fails

we often strive
to rise above
to prove to Him our worth
He showers down his grace and love
to those who live on earth

the breath of God
is filled with song
to keep us from despair
forgiving us when we do wrong
if our hearts we lay bare

we tend to cry
and shake our fists
declaring God is dead
but those who choose to slash their wrists
to satan will be wed
