the knob came off the radio
forever, it will haunt
it's not a station i would choose
require, or even want
.
the tones are much too brassy
and the volume way too loud
i feel it coat my body
like a cold and sterile shroud
.
there is no way to turn it off
it's powered by my mind
propelled by thoughts i can't control
a madman running blind
.
the notes descend like scalding rain
that etches on my skin
then oozes through the layers
till they poison from within
.
and just about the time
that i'm devoured by its cries
i note it's just my clock alarm
and that it's time to rise
