i was upon the donor list

an organ came to me
i felt like i was heaven kissed
what generosity
alas my heart became offbeat
the doctors knew not why
i guess the organ felt deceit
and this was its reply
its not where i belong
twas not my place to roam
i say this with a heavy heart
this heart needs to go home
and not deceitin'
my name was never frankenstein
my maker held that name
no part of me is truly mine
this fills me full of shame
a heartless man i'll never meet
was robbed and that's no lie
with hearts, no mortal man should cheat
and this was its reply
its not where i belong
twas not my place to roam
i say this with a heavy heart
this heart needs to go home
and not be cheatin'
i am the lowly artichoke
out on a farm i grew
some people treat me as a joke
and say i'm hard to chew
alas they say my heart is sweet
the flavor is to die
my heart becomes a luncheon treat
and this was its reply
its not where i belong
twas not my place to roam
i say this with a heavy heart
this heart needs to go home
and not......
