we've redesigned each other

from the rubble that we were
from a lean-to that was listing
to a house that will endure
with trust in one another
and a trust in God above
the papered walls inside our hearts
are patterned with our love

we've brightened up each other
from our former shades of gray
from a quickly fading snapshot
to a portrait that will stay
we once were cardboard colored
now we're purple polka dots
the papered walls inside our minds
are patterned with our thoughts

we've bolstered up each other
for we have each other's backs
while we once were swinging blindly
now there's force in our attacks
and our enemies can't harm us
for we're two-fold in our grace
the papered walls inside our souls
are patterned with our faith
