you say i need direction

but i don't know east from west
the path of least resistance
is the road that i love best

i'm sitting in my bathtub
and the water's nice and snug
and as the water's cooling
i reach down and pull the plug

you say i need direction
but i need to make this plain
i'm heading in a spiral
like this water down the drain

you say i need direction
but i don't know north from south
don't understand the language
that is pouring from your mouth

i know you want to help me
but i cannot help myself
it seems i've left my atlas
on a high and distant shelf

you say i need direction
but i really must explain
i'm heading in a spiral
like this water down the drain
