a thousand mixed emotions

with a million different hues
it will make your body twitchy
cause your psyche to confuse
.
a waterfall of wonder
crashes down into a pool
full of dark and dirty water
searing heat dissolves the cool
.
you're questioning the landscape
as you zigzag side to side
it's an wondrous sense of overload
when butterflies collide
.
behind you, the familiar
but its features have turned strange
yet the future's winking at you
with its promises of change
.
though you question the upheaval
you then tense your legs to spring
you must rise from the detritus
that has smothered everything
.
when it's gravity you're fighting
it can be a brutal ride
but you need to keep on focusing
when butterflies collide
