I remember the day I gift wrapped my heart
and trustingly placed it in your hands.

I remember the way your eyes embraced me,
as you ever so carefully,
gently and lovingly picked it up.

Unfamiliar yet overwhelming feelings rushed over me,
Quickly flooding the eyes that see only perfection in you,

You not only have my heart,
but also my soul,
since I have become dead now,

Now that you’ve broken that heart,
blinded those eyes
and stranded this soul.
