anger can flare up with no warning

All is calm
Like a lake in heaven
In an instant
His anger flares
Like toast forgotten under the grill
Fear shakes through her
A single look
A look that feels like a dentist drill
The smile of a man
Whose mind is not smiling?
Teeth jangling in her mouth
Like a pocket full of loose change
Her eye’s glowing
Two plums in a bowl of cream
Her face like a lost battle
Her feelings cold
As the ashes of love
There is nothing to separate her days
Like raindrops on the window pane
They run together
Then trickle away.

Wow, good piece, I liked the metaphoric cadence of it. Well done.
