Hiding all from the outside world
The curtains shiver in the draught
Shaking in anticipation
They disguise the truth
They see all hear all know all
The chair begins to rock
Agitation mounting
With each creak
The peace will soon be gone
Conflict will begin
Each creak saying
I see all hear all know all
Voices raised in anger
Like waves on the shore
Reaching a crescendo
Voices shouting together until
One voice louder than the rest
‘’if you can’t agree what to watch,
Turn that damn TV off’’
Peace returns
The creaks and rocking
Slowly stopping
I stand erect alone in my corner
Surveying my surroundings
Peeping from beneath my shade
I see all hear all know all
The peace and quiet will not last.
