The trials of life can hurt you
Fill your days with gloom
It’s no good looking for wishing wells
Or angels in your bedroom

When your spirit is broken
When your man has blacked your eyes
No-one see’s your teardrops
See’s your pain or hears your cries

You try to hide away your shame
Of abuse and self inflicted pain
Broken heart ripped open wide
All your dreams debris on the tide.

My days now are full of fear
The reason is really clear
When marrying my life I gave
Evermore to be his slave.
