A nightmare put in alliteration and rhymes. Inspired by Francisco Jose` de Goya y Lucientes' The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters. I entered this poem in a school contest my freshmen year and won third place therefore representing my school and got forty whole dollars. I felt so hot until my money was gone. My poem can really only be horrific if you can actually imagine it and so that is why it is also G rated because most young people don't know what horror is. This poem has also been published by Claudia Thorn, one of my alter egos.

To no avail I try to sleep.

Each notorious night and dreadful day

These colorful fey pull me into the dark deep

And each time they succeed my mind frays.

These nightmares are unbelievably foul.

They never cease to torment

With swarming obnoxious owls.

Their broken beaks are impossibly pungent.

A passive aggressive lynx

Lies in the shadow of bats.

A sharp tongued, riddling Sphinx

Perked itself up and into my happiness it spat.

These reoccurring terrors make me cry

If they do not stop soon I am afraid I will die.

Nicely written! Love the flow of it. It does read like you tamed some of your emotions and aggressiveness. I saw the Tag "Nightmares" and felt you could really give us a Nightmare inspired feelings in your expressiveness (

Yes, I find that if I visualise my nightmares I can make them into what I want them to be. Of course that doesn't stop me from coming up with new nightmares. And you know what? Who cares if expressiveness isn't a word? It doesn't give it less meaning. Reminds me of Frindle.

Thank you. Dark is something I commonily do...so I'm going to try different themes, but I don't know yet.
